How do you get to Moreton Island by car?
There are no bridges to Moreton Island, there are no sealed roads on the Island and the only access is by boat. To save time, convenience and cost we recommend all our guests take the passenger ferry to Tangalooma that departs from Holt St Pinkenba (Brisbane), 4 times daily.
Can I take my car to Moreton Island?
Moreton Island is 98% National Park, so you will need to purchase a vehicle access permit to drive on the island (even if you are just heading to the resort), and if you are camping, you need to book and pay for a camping permit. You can also get in touch with Mulgumpin Camping on (07) 3506 2371.

Where do you leave your car when you go to Tangalooma?
There is an open-air car park available for guests at the Tangalooma terminal at Holt St Wharf at a cost of $15 per vehicle, per day. The car park is fenced and locked each evening for security reasons.
Is there only one ferry to Moreton?
Passenger ferry services depart from Holt Street Wharf in Pinkenba, Brisbane and arrive at the Tangalooma Jetty on Moreton Island. Travelling time is just 75 minutes each way, with 4 boat services operating daily in each direction (Brisbane to Tangalooma).
Can I take alcohol to Moreton Island?
No. As Tangalooma Island Resort and Tangalooma Launch Services are fully licensed, no alcohol can be brought onto either the launch vessels or the resort itself.
Does Moreton Island have fuel?
There is no longer a petrol station on Moreton Island. To fuel your vehicle you will need to bring over your own petrol. If you want to buy it on the island, Bulwer General Store sells it in 20L drums only.

But our favourite is magnificent Moreton which we reckon has the best beach camping, bucket-loads of soft sand tracks to give the short stick a work out, no dingoes and a distinct shortage of backpackers compared to Fraser, which makes it the ideal place for a family 4X4 holiday.
